Our History

The Beginning of Fein Brothers

Fein Brothers began in 1929 when former restaurateur Samuel Fein opened a business dedicated to supporting Milwaukee’s growing foodservice community. After running two successful restaurants, Sam understood what operators needed to run efficient kitchens. He shifted his focus to supplying dependable equipment and honest guidance. Although his brother moved shortly after the company started, Sam kept the Fein Brothers name and began building a reputation for reliability and personal service for local restaurants.

Growth and Family Leadership

As Milwaukee’s hospitality industry expanded, so did Fein Brothers. Sam’s son, Simie, joined the company full time and helped lead operations for more than five decades. In 1956, Simie’s classmate, Gil Minkin, joined the team and grew from delivery driver to key roles in sales, purchasing, and customer service. By 1967, Fein Brothers had outgrown its original 35,000 square foot building and moved to its long time home at 2007 N. Martin Luther King Drive. The expansion created a larger showroom with more restaurant equipment, supplies, and kitchen essentials for local operators.

A New Generation and Continued Customer Focus

In the 2000s, the next generation of the Minkin family joined the business. Todd and Ben brought new energy while continuing the focus on serving Milwaukee restaurants and commercial kitchens. Their leadership led to the 2009 acquisition under Dine Out Inc. which ensured ongoing stability and modernization. Fein Brothers continued to expand its offerings with more than 60,000 items, a well stocked showroom, and professional layout and design services for everything from small remodels to full commercial kitchen installations.

Today and the Future with Zepole Supply Co.

In 2024, Fein Brothers entered a new chapter when it was acquired by Zepole Supply Co., a family owned foodservice equipment company with shared values and a strong commitment to customer care. Fein Brothers continues to operate under its respected name while benefiting from Zepole’s expanded resources and broader capabilities. The partnership strengthens the company’s ability to support restaurants and commercial kitchens across Milwaukee and the Midwest while preserving the service, integrity, and expertise that have defined Fein Brothers for nearly 100 years.
